On this Wednesday....

As I prepare for school...
I peaked through my pictures...
just looking.

My eyes fell on this photo from the spring of 2007 and I smiled. My oldest daughter looks so very young. Cuddled up beside me is a dear one who was not yet a teenager. The young lady who I will wake in just moments looks me in the eyes and is 100% fourteen.

I love photos,
they catch moments in time that might otherwise be lost forever to the recesses of tired minds.

I pray you have a box somewhere to dig through or a computer cache to happily sort. Perhaps today, if you can spare a moment, you can find a favorite one as well.

Now and always,
I wish for you the knowledge that you are loved.
I firmly believe...
...that we are all here for a reason.
... that you and I are meant to be blessings to others.

May your walk be a beautiful adventure!

Walking

Tonight when I was walking,
I saw a bunny.
I took a picture with my cell phone and smiled.
Though this is not my bunny,
I thought he would be a good stand in
until I figure out how to send a picture
from my phone to my computer.
My bunny was hunkered down in the grass beside a tree.
The light was fading
and I just barely caught sight of him in the twilight.
His frozen pose reminded me of my oldest daughter's babyhood.
When my dear one was little,
she would hide underneath her green "mankie"
and honestly believed that because she couldn't see me
I couldn't see her.
Now I look at her,
heading to High School in two weeks
and I sigh.
How time flies.
It seems like yesterday that she was bitty,
with blond hair and a tiny baby voice.
Each moment,
each memory is such a treasure.
I am not in a hurry for her to grow up,
but,
it is such a pleasure to see the woman she is becoming.
I am sure you have precious memories like my own.
Moments forever frozen in your mind.
May the happy ones bring you joy
and the sad ones fade with time.
Now and forever,
may you be blessed.

Necessary Things!

I have to chuckle a little at myself when I consider the things I believe to be "necessary" in life.
Tonight, as I bought myself my own cell phone, I stopped and thought about the craziness of it all.
Aside from having a cell for emergency situations, I like knowing that I really should pick up a loaf of bread, a few rolls of bathroom tissue or some other needed item (like chocolate or ice cream), before I get home.
And yet... many of us can remember a time when the cell phone was not even invented.
(gasp... I hear my eldest daughter shuddering...)
In an emergency, someone stopped to help you.
If you forgot to write something down on your list, no one intervened.
Life is a bit different now from when I was younger and I must confess that though I complain loudly in the direction of the generations who are my junior, I honestly do enjoy some of the new "necessities".
Blogging, texting and even ATM's....
Not a one existed in any practical form when I was born.
Don't let the kiddies know how I really feel,
it would take all the thunder out of my,
"When I was a kid... stories".
Tonight,
I wish for you...
A chuckle when you need one...
and the real necessities of life,
Peace, Joy and Love...
(and maybe a teeny tiny texting cell phone!)
:-)

Happy Memories

Sifting through an old box tonight, I happened upon several really enjoyable photos that took me back to my youth. One in particular seemed to invite me to share its story.

In my mind's eye I can still remember the excitement I felt when I noticed the baby squirrel sitting under my parents' car.

It was small and furry and happily munching on maple helicopters.

Immediately, I knew I just had to pet it and I quickly formed a plan.

Running into the house I got into my mother's good cashews and hurried outside with a big handful.

The tiny baby was too new to be afraid of people and I capitalized on this fact.

I edged myself under the car and offered the yummies to the infant creature. In a matter of moments I had it eating out of my hand. I even touched its soft fur with reverence. It was a magical moment.

A moment that was interrupted by its mother rushing down the tree and chattering at us both.

I'm not sure what that mother said, but I never saw the bitty one again.

Still, for just a brief moment the little one and I were friends. It is an absolutely delightful memory, one that makes me sigh contentedly.

Maybe you should find some childhood photos and dig your way through them. If you are like me, you will be blessed with what you remember.
