We followed the Scioto...

Following the river, we admired the beautiful houses and the view of the water. We left Riverside Drive and ventured onto a two lane road lined with shady trees. It was peaceful and quiet.

At least it was quiet...until I saw an amazing sight. I could barely believe my eyes and I told my husband to stop the car. Standing in the water were at least six great blue herons! Murmuring, I opened my door and startled all but two or three.

Tiptoeing down a path to the water, I snapped my cell phone camera just in time.... to catch a lovely memory of the beautiful Scioto! Despite my inability to share a photo of those majestic birds, it was still a wonderful experience. The cost?... Only a bit of gas for our car.

The sky was golden...

Darkness was creeping...
lights began to twinkle...
My children,
both the real and the furry one...
sat eating ice cream from McDonald's.
I smiled and sighed...
the inviting glow tempted me from my car...
I watched the airplanes from the fence.

purple

Sparkling...
somewhat sticky...
...hey how did dog fuzz get stuck in there?

It wasn't up for debate,
my oldest was in charge.

She decreed I was to have purple with purple sparkles and pink jewels.

I was leaning more toward gold and red with maybe a white crystal.

But,
I wasn't in charge.

I must admit,
our nails look adorable.

I know my little girls at school will be all over them
like a proverbial mouse
on Swiss cheese.

Today at lunch,
when I had my own dollar and seven cents shopping spree,
I found the shimmering jewels and knew they had to be ours.

Isn't it lovely that so much amusement can be had for so very little?

I wish for you,
silliness,
joy
and time with the ones you love.

May you be blessed.
Now,
Always,
Forever!

Popcorn Bliss...

Our local Blockbuster,
and probably yours too
has a fun deal this summer.
For ten dollars,
you can rent as as many videos
as you can watch in a week.
Without homework or serious lesson plans,
we figure we can watch a movie every night.
So,
happily,
we wander the isles...
sampling
scary movies,
heartwarming family titles,
silly imaginative stories
and even
the stray
subtitled foreign film.
Now,
I am not claiming ten dollars
is not a decent amount of money.
However,
for three kids and one mom,
it is pretty cheap entertainment for a week.
We are seriously enjoying our happy romp in movie land.
If you are a fan of the golden screen...
perhaps you need your own week of popcorn delight!
I pray this evening finds you well,
that you are assured that you are loved,
that you KNOW...
really know...
that you are blessed.
Good night and may your adventure be a beautiful one.
