Happy afternoons...

Step by step, with attention and happiness, my students made a paper race track. Using a straw, a metal car and a few pom poms, the children tested out the power of their own lungs.

We discovered that red colored cars could be blown with a straw while all but one green car only wiggled. A whoop of glee erupted in the classroom when the kids blew the pom poms and sent them flying. Happily the children repeated the experiment and discovered the same results. Air does amazing things if what you are trying to move is not too heavy.

Later, questions were answered and materials were packed up to take home and share with families. After cleaning up the room, my students were given a chance to play with their cars for a few moments. You would have thought I had given them a million dollars.
